In which country are the Cliffs of Moher?

Irelands Famous Sea Cliffs

The Cliffs of Moher are located in Ireland, on the rugged west coast of the country in County Clare. They are sea cliffs, rising dramatically straight out of the Atlantic Ocean, and they are one of Irelands most visited natural attractions.

A Towering Wall Above the Atlantic

The cliffs stretch for roughly 14 kilometres along the coastline. At their highest point they tower more than 200 metres above the crashing waves below. Standing at the edge, visitors look out over the open Atlantic, and on a clear day they can see as far as the Aran Islands and the hills of distant Connemara.

Nature and Story

The Cliffs of Moher are an important refuge for wildlife, especially seabirds, which nest in great numbers along the steep rock faces. The site is protected for this reason. The cliffs have also become woven into culture and storytelling, appearing in films and inspiring legends - a striking symbol of Irelands wild Atlantic edge.
